NEWQUAY AFC Based in Newquay,
Cornwall, nicknamed "The Peppermints". They were the founding members of the
South Western League in 1951, and remained there until 2007 when they joined the
South West Peninsula League Division One West. Their reserves were founder
members of the Cornwall Combination in 1959, and have remained there ever since.
For the 2008-09 season the joint managers are Jim Hilton and Symon Winnan. The
club can trace its roots back to 1890, although strictly speaking the current
formation dates back to 1946. The club have played their home games since 1922
at Mount Wise, situated on Clevedon Road, very close to the town centre. There
is a wooden seated stand and a small covered area with some bench seats on the
other side of the ground. Floodlights were installed and a spacious clubhouse
built in 1988.
